About the Oceanus Library

Welcome to the Oceanus Library. Here you’ll find an extensive collection of scientific literature relating to marine and freshwater resources. Our collections support research, policy, and decision-making across a wide range of marine areas.

Library collections

Our collections include scientific literature produced by Irish and international researchers. An important part of the collection is our archive, which contains material dating from around the 1840s, including scientific reports, books, and publications.

The Oceanus Library holds historical marine material, including the Sea and Inland Fisheries reports (1839–1987) and the Scientific Investigations series (1901–1926). We have digitised these collections to make previously on-site material more widely available.
