What funding is available?
Funding is available across three categories.
Research conferences and workshops
Supports participation in conferences and workshops that encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Training courses
Supports training opportunities that strengthen skills, expertise, and technical capacity.
Research visits
Supports longer-term engagement and collaboration between organisations.
2026 application deadlines
Applications will be accepted throughout 2026 at the following deadlines:
- 19 February 2026
- 16 April 2026
- 18 June 2026
- 3 September 2026
- 5 November 2026, for activities taking place up to 31 March 2027
Applicants should submit applications at least one month before the proposed activity takes place.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted through the Marine Institute's Research Information Management System (RIMS). Application forms are available through the online system.

- check funding limits and requirements
- prepare details of your planned activity
- ensure your application is complete
Important information
Before applying, please note:
- applicants cannot receive more than two awards in a calendar year
- awards are payable to organisations only
- applications are limited to three applications per organisation for a single event
